Vicious Virtue

Full-Length Dark Comedy: 80 mins: 3M, 4F

George is a former championship rower who makes decisions with the flip of a coin. His wife Lydia is a chess Grandmaster with every move planned eight years in advance. But Lydia isn’t the only one plotting at the Blutig estate – and George isn’t the only one betting on the come line.  Virginia and Clara are Lydia’s crazy cousins, Mondrian is their cosmopolitan language teacher, and Bartholomew is the family butler in this modern comedy of manners, and no one wants to show their hand. The stakes are high, the inheritance is huge, and the outcome is hilariously disastrous. Because for the Blutigs, life is a game – and winning just might be everything, after all.

Press
[2007] The Daily Californian: “Vicious Virtue may sound dark – and at times, it is – but despite the heavy story, it succeeds as a thoroughly enjoyable comedy… The play’s writing is its greatest asset.”
